Sweet Green Smoothie

I weirdly LOVE my veggies. While I still have the “normal” cravings of chocolate and the anything-dipped-in-peanut-butter snack…. I also experience “weird” cravings of raw purple cabbage and cauliflower dipped in mustard.

 

One thing I do not crave, is drinking veggies that taste like… veggies. Smoothies are the hottest new recipe on pinterest. There are over 3 million posts with the hash tag #Smoothie. But nearly all of them are packed with fruit, adding up to more sugar than one should even consume in a day.

 

So I set out to perfect a smoothie that is almost only vegetables, but tastes completely sweet and delicious! (The key? Raw Almonds and Cinnamon!)

Green Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 Medium Banana
  • 1 C. Ice
  • 12 Natural Raw Almonds
  • 4 Carrots
  • 3 inch Cucumber, sliced
  • 1 Stalk Celery
  • 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon (or more if you love the flavor!)
  • 2 Cups Spinach (not packed down) (You can substitute in Kale, but the flavor will be more bitter & "green"
  • *A couple splashes of cold water

Directions

  1. Add the Banana, Ice, and splashed of water and blend until smooth.
  2. Add in the almonds, carrots, cucumber, and celery- blend.
  3. Add in the Cinnamon last and blend until as smooth as you prefer.
  4. *You can add more spinach or cinnamon to your liking.
  5. *If you prefer your smoothies icier, add in more ice. I like mine smoother, so I will add in more water.
  6. *Feel free to eliminate Cucumbers and substitute with more carrots if you dislike the Cucumber taste.

    Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit!! Who’da thought such vegetable euphoria could be reached by consuming a drink masked as a “not so bad” tasting veggie smoothie. I gotta try this one! Thanks Skinny!!
